SuperSpace
Superspace is a websocket multiplayer action game inspired by classics like Asteroids, Space Wars and Subspace while adding some modern sensibilities of games like Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch.
The goal of the game is to capture more points than your opponent. Red team spawns in the upper left and blue team spawns in the lower right. Cap points spawn diagonally across the map to fight over.
Rounds last 3 minutes, with a short 10 second break between rounds. Teams are shuffled every round.

Left, Right arrows or A,D or left-thumbstick: Turn left / right
up arrow or W or right trigger: Accelerate
Space or X button: Primary Attack
Control or A button: Secondary Attack
Shift or B button: Utility Ability
Tab or left trigger: Scoreboard
Escape or Start: Ship Select
1,2,3,4 or D-Pad: Emote
In the ship select screen, there is a toggle button to turn on mobile controls. I try to default these to on when I detect a mobile device, but that is harder than it sounds with web tech.
Ships:
Sniper.
The sniper is a low-health high damage ship. Its pin-point accuracy can take out most ships before they have a chance to react, and the snipers teleport does a good job at getting them out of sticky situations.
Basic: Instant-shot long-range high damage ability that temporarily disables engines
Secondary: High damage orb
Utility: Teleport to a random nearby location
Scout
The scout is a low-health highly maneuverable ship that plays well at both long and short range. Weaken enemies with your machine gun like laser and finish them off at close range with a shotgun blast.
Basic: Fast long range low damage laser.
Secondary: Short range shotgun that deals high damage in an arc in front of the ship.
Utility: Instant speed boost in the direction the ship is facing.
Fighter
The fighter is a high health ship that fires dual high-damage lasers. Though its maneuverability is lacking, its ability to heal between battles with its utility ability makes it a difficult ship to take down.
Basic: Dual lasers that do high damage
Secondary: Heat-seeking missile that explodes on contact or after a set duration
Utility: Small self heal.
Brawler
The brawler is build for close-quarters combat. Ramming ships with its sword-like tip deals massive damage. Use the stun missiles to disable ships so you can approach, the damage shield to block initial retaliations, and the vacuum attack to plunge the front of your ship into theirs dealing massive damage.
Basic: Vacuum that thrusts the brawler forward while pulling anyone in front of them back towards them.
Secondary: Dual heat-seeking missiles that temporarily stun enemies hit, disabling their movement and abilities.
Utility: Shield that negates a single damaging hit.
Bomber
The bomber is an area-control expert. Laying down a field of bombs makes the bomber difficult to attack, and the bomber's invincibility is a good counter to high-damage abilities like the brawler's vacuum attack or the scouts shotgun blast. The bomber's 8-directional secondary helps keep enemy ships at a safe distance.
Basic: Lays down a bomb a short distance behind the ship. Bombs explode in a large radius and heat-seek slightly towards enemies that get close.
Secondary: 8-directional attack. Sends out bullets in 8-directions around the bomber.
Utility: A short half-second invincibility that protects against enemy ships, but not asteroids. You can not cap while invincible.
The game was made in three months by Kevin and John as part of Tiny Mass Games (tinymassgames.com). Tiny Mass Games is a collective of small teams and solo developers based in Massachusetts who release a batch of hand crafted, artisanal, farm-to-table games each quarter.
